Privacy Policy for Bracie
Effective Date: July 7, 2025
Last Updated: July 7, 2025
Welcome to Bracie ("the App"), developed by Gourami Studio ("we," "us," or "our"). Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is used and stored, and your rights concerning your data when you use our mobile application.
The core principle of Bracie is that your personal and health-related data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to, collected by, or accessible to us.
1. Information We Collect
Bracie is designed to function almost entirely on your device. We do not have user accounts, and we do not require you to provide personal information to our servers to use the App.
A. Information You Provide Directly and Store Locally:
All the information you enter into the App is stored directly on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not have access to this information. This includes:
- Visit Details: Information about your orthodontic appointments, including appliance type, treatment updates, custom instructions, brushing routines, and future appointment dates.
- Photographs: Photos you take with your device's camera or select from your photo library to track your treatment progress. The App requires camera access (NSCameraUsageDescription) and/or photo library access solely to enable this feature. These photos remain on your device within the App's secure storage.
- App-Generated Data: Bookmarks for FAQs and any data related to the timer feature.
B. Information Collected Automatically:
- Device-Specific Information for Notifications: If you choose to enable notifications for appointment reminders, your device generates a unique, anonymous token. This token is used by Apple's Push Notification Service to send reminders to your specific device. We do not use this token to personally identify you, and it is not linked to your other data.
- Non-Personal, Anonymized Analytics (if implemented): In the future, we may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as crash reports or feature usage statistics) to help us identify bugs and improve the App. This data will not contain any of your personal information and cannot be used to identify you.
2. How We Use Your Information
Because we do not collect your personal data, we do not "use" it. Instead, the App uses the data you provide on your device for the following purposes:
- To Provide Core Functionality: To log and display your visit history, show your progress through photos, display your upcoming appointments, and provide access to helpful leaflets and FAQs.
- To Improve Your Experience: The data you enter helps you and your orthodontist monitor your treatment journey.
- To Send Reminders: To send local or push notifications about upcoming appointments, if you have enabled this feature.
3. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
- Local Storage: All your personal and health-related data is stored exclusively on your device in the App's sandboxed container.
- Security: Your data is protected by the security features of your iOS device, such as your passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID. We do not implement separate security measures because we never possess your data. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device.
- Retention and Deletion: Your data is retained on your device for as long as you have the App installed. If you delete the App from your device, all of its associated data is permanently deleted. You can also delete individual visit entries or photos from within the App at any time.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not have access to your personal data, so we cannot and do not sell, rent, or share it with any third parties.
5. Children's Privacy
Bracie is intended for use by individuals undergoing orthodontic treatment, who may be minors. The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your jurisdiction) on its servers, as it does not collect any user data at all. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's internet usage and to instruct their children never to provide personal information through any application without their permission. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child is using the app in a way that concerns you, you can delete the app and its data from their device at any time.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
